Halloween in The Social Distancing Age
Halloween is quickly approaching, and it will look very different for our family this year. Usually, we allow the boys to go trick-or-treating on our street and take them to our annual church festival. Today on the blog, I have listed a few COVID safe fun family Halloween alternatives in this social distancing age.
Reverse Trick-or-Treating
First, we are going to do a little reverse trick-or-treating. My husband and I teach our boys that it is much better to give than receive. Instead of going door-to-door trick or treating and asking for candy, we are going to have our boys create a list of friends, and we are going to deliver a bucket of Halloween goodies to their doorsteps. I am sure this will be a pleasant surprise.
Family Pajamas
Next, instead of costumes, we are going to wear our Halloween pajamas. Our boys love dressing up in comfy pajamas, and they get even more excited when our whole family has the same pair of pjs.
Dinner
After that, we will pick our top two family-friendly Halloween movies and eat tacos together as a family. I mean, who doesn’t love tacos.
Seek and Find- Halloween Edition
Next, we are going to do a little candy hide and seek. My middle son came up with this brilliant idea. It’s going to be similar to hiding eggs for Easter. My husband and I will hide orange candy-filled eggs throughout the house, and the boys will have 5 minutes to find all the eggs. I will put a few dollars in some special eggs. When they find them, they will have an extra nice treat. LOL! This will be extra fun. My boys love candy and games, so this will be the perfect mix.
Dance Party
Last but not least, we are having a FUN family dance party. I am putting together a fun list of Halloween dance songs, and we are going to dance and make tons of memories.
2020 will be a year to remember, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have joy. Joy is something that God gives us, and our circumstances can’t replace it. Instead of focusing on the type of year we have had, let’s focus on making the best out of what we do have. I hope you were able to pick a few things from my list of fun family Halloween alternatives.
