Jax’s room makeover
We finally closed on our new home in September! Yayyyy! What a wild and crazy year this was. We sold our home in December 2020 and didn’t find a new home until September 2021. I don’t know about you, but as soon as I saw my new home, I knew this was the home for me. We are finally settling in, and I am eager to show you the room makeovers I did for the boys. Ana and Ryan from AplurR Design helped me decorate my oldest son’s room before moving, so we didn’t need to do much there. Ana also helped me decorate my middle son’s room, and I can’t wait until the room is revealed for that one. First, we are going to start with my youngest son. This is the first time he has ever had his own room, so I wanted this to be something special. I also enjoyed that the room has its own signature stamp and feels like “home.”
Bedding
Let’s talk bedding. I searched high and low for the best bedding. Like literally, I went to a million stores. I was exhausted by then. Finally, I thought to take a walk through Target, and I found this bedding, and it is perfect. Perfect color and ideal cost. I also love that it’s a double-sided comforter, so it goes with just about anything. I also found this bed on Wayfair, and it shipped in perfect timing.
Color Scheme
Y’all know I am a Texas gal, and I love some amazing farmhouse decor. I am leaning more towards modern farmhouse decor these days, but I still thought adding these touches to Jax’s room would be perfect. I went with a neutral and navy color scheme. He loves it, and so do I. What do you think?
Accesorize
Target for the win! I found so many unique pieces from my local Target store for this room. I wanted some metals and wood-themed accessories, but I also wanted something practical and durable that he could use daily. I mean, because he is 100% rough and tough, and between the football throwing and horseplaying, I wanted something that would last well into his teen years.
Home decor isn’t just furniture to me; it’s a way we express ourselves and a stamp of our personality. This room was by far the most challenging for me because when I saw a piece I loved, I just bought it. I also had leftover items from other areas in our home that I knew I wanted to put in his room. It all seemed to work together well in the end, and Jax has a room that he loves. I am so grateful for this season in our lives.
Do you think the room decor should match the child’s personality when decorating?

Great blog post! My husband and I are house hunting. Once we find the perfect home for our family, I’ll definitely carry these tips with me as I decorate my daughters’ rooms.
